Judge releases one suspect in Birkerød murder
At the Lyngby Court on Wednesday, a judge released a 21-year-old man accused of participating in the murder of a 23-year-old man by a sports hall in Birkerød on Monday evening. Another suspect, a 19-year-old man, was detained for further investigation. The proceeding occurred behind closed doors so as to not interfere with the ongoing police investigation. The 23-year-old victim was stabbed twice in the back, stomach, and chest near Søndervangshallen in Birkerød before 10:58 PM on Monday. There could still be accomplices at large. The courtroom was full with acquaintances of both the victim and the accused before proceedings were closed to the public. Both the victim and the suspects were known to the police as part of Birkerød’s criminal environment. The police hypothesize the murder relates to an internal criminal dispute, not current gang conflicts.
