Minister introduces deadlines for wind farm complaints

Minister for Industry, Business and Financial Affairs Morten Bødskov has proposed legislation that would enforce deadlines for the elaboration of complaints regarding solar cells and wind turbines, aiming to eliminate ‘bureaucracy and hassle.’ The proposal is in response to vague complaints that have delayed proceedings, as appeal boards await additional information. The ministry’s fact sheet indicates the measure will prevent the intentional prolonging of complaints, such as to delay wind farm establishment. Bødskov has cited examples of deliberately delayed green energy projects, though he does not claim that this is the most common motive for complaints. The proposed law would also require boards to highly weigh the need for renewable energy in their decisions. Additionally, the law is backed by Green Power Denmark, highlighting the struggle municipalities face with bureaucratic processes. Bødskov expects the new rules could be in place by summer if all goes well.
