Israel reports 11 killed in Golan Heights attack

Eleven children and young people were killed by rockets, fired from Lebanon, that hit a soccer field in Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. The Israel Defense Forces attributed the attack to Hezbollah, which constitutes the most severe attack on Israeli civilians since October 7; however, Hezbollah denies the accusation. The IDF reported that Hezbollah launched about 40 projectiles. The Israeli emergency service described a horrific scene with casualties and burning debris on the soccer field. A witness recounted multiple bodies and body parts scattered across the field. This incident follows an Israeli operation in Lebanon that killed four militants. Although Hezbollah has retaliated for previous attacks, they deny involvement in this specific one. The Golan Heights have been under Israeli occupation since the 1967 Six-Day War, a status not internationally recognized. Recently, fighting has escalated between Israel and Hezbollah.
