Trump: Denmark will align on Greenland sale

Donald Trump, the 47th President of the United States, asserted that Denmark will align with the potential sale of Greenland to ensure international security. Trump has recently suggested that the US take control of Greenland, though he did not mention it in his inauguration speech. Previously, he did not rule out the use of military force to achieve this. The new Vice President, J.D. Vance, has tempered these statements. Leader of Greenland government, Múte B. Egede, has repeatedly stated that Greenland is not for sale. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen responded diplomatically, saying that ‘Greenland is for the Greenlanders.’ The geopolitical landscape has shifted notably since 2019, with heightened importance attributed to the Arctic region due to security interests from the US, Russia, and China.
