Queen Margrethe Embarks on Post-Abdication Duties

Queen Margrethe of Denmark, after abdicating the throne to her son King Frederik, is set to undertake new responsibilities. Her first official engagement independent of the throne transition is on February 7, 2023. She will partake in the inauguration ceremony of the new Prince Henrik’s School on Frederiksberg. Since January 14 she has been seen alongside King Frederik at various throne transition events. Bolette Wulff, Vice Principal of Prince Henrik’s School, anticipates the Queen’s visit, during which the educational institution will host an official inauguration although it opened on November 1, 2022. In honor of Queen Margrethe’s husband, the ‘French School’ was named after Prince Henrik, who also served as its official patron.
