Mette F. declines to sign joint statement on far right

Several top European Social Democrats signed a declaration to never cooperate with the far-right. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen did not sign, cites timing issues as the primary reason. Signatories committed not to work with European party groups ECR and ID, with the Danish People’s Party belonging to ID. The signing occurred during a PES conference in Berlin, representing a European coalition of Social Democratic parties. The declaration, publicly available on PES’s website, outlines a fight against racism and upholding of international law against Russian aggression. Notable signatories include Sweden’s former Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and high-ranking social democrats from Spain, Italy, Germany, Croatia, the Czech Republic, France, and Hungary.
