Netto to advertise date-marked items on city screens

Netto is introducing physical advertisements for discounted near-expiry items outside select stores to combat food waste, as announced in a press release. Previously, such offers were only available via Netto’s mobile app. Now, products nearing expiration and at risk of being discarded will be visibly promoted to customers. “Date-marked items meet two major consumer needs: making a climate impact and saving money,” notes commercial director Kristine Marie Thøgersen. Increasing interest in these products is evident, with many using them for meal inspiration. This initiative utilizes a technical solution linking app data with GPS information for nearby outdoor ad stands, updating available discounts per store. Initially, ten stores in Denmark will see this implementation. This move is part of Netto’s broader strategy to reduce food waste.
