Storms and flash floods may hit Denmark wednesday
Denmark could face storms and local flash floods almost nationwide on Wednesday, warns the Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI). Recent heavy rainfall already caused issues in traffic, particularly in Kolding and Copenhagen. A risk warning, the lowest level on DMI’s alert scale, has been issued for Wednesday, with potential of 15 to 30 millimeters of rain within 30 minutes. The alert starts at 10:00 AM in Jutland until 10:00 PM, moving to Funen between 1:00 PM and 9:00 PM, and for the remainder of the country, excluding Bornholm, between 3:00 PM and midnight. A cold front is expected to bring warm and humid air, with temperatures possibly reaching 26-27 degrees Celsius in some areas. The exact intensity and location of the anticipated downpours remain uncertain. Last Sunday, six cloudbursts were recorded with Kolding witnessing the highest intensity of 32.6 millimeters of rainfall.
