Pedagogy student admissions continue to decline

Denmark’s pedagogue education admissions have decreased for the fourth straight year, with teacher education also seeing lower intake. Admissions across four key welfare-related programs, including nursing and social work, have dropped by 4%. The Ministry of Higher Education and Science reported that out of over 85,000 higher education applicants, 61,351 were accepted. Education Minister Christina Elegund underlines the need for educational reforms to better align with labor market needs, highlighting the rejection of qualified candidates. Rejections increased by 8% from last year. Business organization Dansk Erhverv is worried about the insufficient intake in fields like engineering and IT where demand for professionals is high. There’s a marginal 1% increase in STEM fields admissions, but a 1% fall in IT-related admissions.
