Parents doubt kids should use AI

Over half of Danish parents don’t think children should use AI, reveals a Media Council survey conducted by Epinion. Children mainly use AI services ChatGPT and Snapchat’s MyAI, although 40% of parents don’t know which AI their kids use. About half of the parents feel AI makes them uneasy, even as 74% believe AI will become important in the future. Media Council’s Miriam Michaelsen understands the parental split, highlighting the need for information on AI’s potential risks for children. The report indicates a disparity between parents’ interest in their children’s AI usage and their actual knowledge. Despite the importance of discussing digital life, over half of the parents seldom or never talk to their kids about AI. The survey focused on generative AI capable of creating content like text and media.
