Danish PM criticized for connecting war and work hours

Opposition parties in Denmark are criticizing Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen for linking the Ukraine war to local discussions on working hours during a conference at Christiansborg. She insists Danes should work more while Europe seeks fewer work hours, citing Russia’s continuous production. Frederiksen has a history of urging strong work ethic, notably when she scrapped a holiday to fund defence, prompting backlash from the SF party. They, along with the Enhedslisten and Liberal Alliance, suggest exploring other funding avenues for defense upgrades, disagreeing with Frederiksen’s narrative. Enhedslisten pinpoints a different issue: Europe is exporting half of its ammo, depriving Ukraine. The debate touches on whether Denmark lacks working hours or production capacity, as confirmed by government party Social Democrats’ spokesperson Rasmus Stoklund, who notes a new ammo factory is opening in North Jutland.
