US and Russia conduct major rrisoner exchange
Russia has released Evan Gershkovich and Paul Whelan in a prisoner swap with the US, as confirmed by the US State Department and Turkish President’s office. The two Americans, previously convicted of espionage, arrived in Ankara on a Russian government plane and then in the US. Several Russian critics, including Ilja Jasjin and Vladimir Kara-Murza, have also been freed.
