Ex-MP Condemns Brother After Violence Sentence

Former Danish Green Left MP, Özlem Cekic, denounces her brother’s actions on Facebook after he was sentenced to three years and 11 months in prison for violent assault and other acts of violence. Cemal Cekic, also expelled from Denmark for six years, was convicted of assaulting a couple in central Copenhagen in early 2022 with three unidentified accomplices. Additionally, he was found guilty of violence against an ex-girlfriend and another woman. Despite appealing his sentence, Özlem Cekic stresses nothing justifies his criminal behavior, expressing agony over his choices that conflict with her values. Cemal Cekic, identified as part of the NNV gang, also reportedly attempted to defraud his ex-girlfriend of 1.1 million kroner, invoking fear and shame on Özlem Cekic.
