Denmark ends gas supply alert
Denmark’s Energy Agency has lifted the ‘early warning’ crisis level for gas supply initially set on June 20, 2022, amidst concerns over falling Russian gas imports following the Ukraine invasion. With the EU’s reliance on Russian gas dropping from 40% to below 10%, and Denmark virtually eliminating its use, the supply outlook has improved. Director Kristoffer Böttzauw states that Denmark is better positioned now with a 22% reduction in gas use and a mix that includes 37% biogas. The country’s storages are nearly 60% full, and the Baltic Pipe project alongside the Thyra field boosts its gas sources. Although the market has become more robust, reintroducing the alert in extreme conditions remains a possibility.
