Unemployment stagnates after growth period
In March, unemployment in Denmark did not significantly change, decreasing by just 48 people after seasonal adjustments. This stable figure was reported by the Danish Agency for Labour Market and Recruitment (Star). The total number of full-time unemployed was 86,476 in March. Despite a mild increase over the previous 16 months with around 10,000 more unemployed, the situation has not raised major concerns, according to Jeppe Juul Borre, chief economist at Arbejdernes Landsbank. He considers the overall state of the labor market to be very sensible. Employment has been on the rise almost every month since 2021, breaking records, with more than 3 million people employed as of January this year, a year-on-year increase of over 30,000 positions. The rising employment has contributed to keeping unemployment rates relatively low.
