Randers commences pilot excavation near Nordic Waste

Randers Municipality began a trial excavation at a landslide site by Nordic Waste, aiming to evaluate if the soil could be moved back onto Nordic Waste’s area and to restore Alling Å and Gl. Århusvej. The excavation, which started a few days ago, is expected to be completed this week. Municipal Director Jesper Kaas Schmidt regards this as an essential step in addressing the landslide consequences. The soil removed in the process will be based on geotechnical studies. Randers Municipality is advised by experts from Cowi and Geus and employs robust safety measures, including four-hour intervals for risk assessment and buoys to monitor movement in the affected area. The incident led to a police report against Nordic Waste for environmental law violations.
