Danish Parliament advises against Chinese chatbot

The Danish Parliament, led by the Presidium, advises members, party employees, and staff not to use the Chinese chatbot DeepSeek on devices issued by the Parliament. This cautionary stance was communicated via email, indicating concerns about potentially feeding confidential content to the Chinese technology. Lars Christian Brask from the Liberal Alliance emphasized the importance of uninstalling the app from any parliamentary devices. This warning follows a similar action by Norway’s parliament, which banned the use of the chatbot after their national security authority cautioned against it. DeepSeek, a free AI chatbot and a possible competitor to the well-known ChatGPT, raises concerns regarding how it processes personal information. Previously, Denmark’s Parliament also recommended against using TikTok on official devices based on advice from their cybersecurity center within the Danish Defence Intelligence Service.
