Denmark collaborates with Tunisian Guard amid migrant concerns

Denmark has partnered with the Tunisian National Guard, which faces accusations of leaving migrants in the desert, risking their lives, as per Jyllands-Posten. International humanitarian sources estimate that at least 5,500 migrants were pushed towards Libya and 3,000 towards Algeria, with over 100 fatalities last summer. Tunisia’s authorities refute these claims, stating they uphold human rights. Danish Integration Minister Kaare Dybvad Bek has inaugurated a Danish-funded border guard training center in Tunisia and insists all Danish efforts in third countries comply with international and EU laws. Record numbers of migrants, 98,000, reached Italy from Tunisia last year, with the Tunisian National Guard apprehending 70,000 migrants in 2023 so far.
