Danish PM: Russia mustn’t meddle with EU affairs
Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen stated on Thursday before the EU summit in Brussels that Russia has no right to interfere in the internal matters of Europe and that it shouldn’t be allowed to determine which countries can be part of the EU and NATO. Frederiksen emphasized that Europe must not accept a future dictated by Moscow. European leaders are expected to discuss European armament at the summit. She mentioned that Russia could have negotiated a peace deal had President Putin desired it, and criticized Russia’s response to talks with a bombardment in Ukraine. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also expressed the necessity for Ukraine to maintain a strong, independent army and mentioned Germany has increased its defense budget to support Ukraine with an additional three billion euros.
