Authors contribute to Denmark’s literary plan

Danish award-winning authors are set to play a role in shaping the nation’s writer remuneration as the Culture Minister, Jakob Engel-Schmidt, forms a working group, including authors Iben Mondrup, Thomas Korsgaard, Leonora Christina Skov, Christian Mørk, and Josefine Klougart, to provide input for a comprehensive literary action plan. This group will examine authors’ working and pay conditions in the digital book market and the impact of artificial intelligence on literary evolution. The initiative aims to transform the challenges of digitalization into opportunities without disadvantaging authors and publishers. The Minister highlights the cultural importance of Danish literature and the current financial challenges faced by authors despite their provision of ‘vital mental nourishment.’ The group, which is also joined by other industry professionals, aims to sustain Denmark’s reputation for prominent literary contributions. Both Skov and Korsgaard have received the prestigious Golden Laurel award for their exceptional literary work.
