Biden warns Netanyahu: Change policy or US will

President Joe Biden, in a Thursday phone call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, warned that US policy towards Israel depends on the protection of civilians in Gaza, implying conditions could be attached to US arms deliveries to Israel. The conversation, the first since an Israeli airstrike killed seven aid workers from the World Central Kitchen Group in Gaza, led Biden to demand an ‘immediate ceasefire’ and label the attack ‘unacceptable.’ Secretary of State Antony Blinken echoed the warning during a NATO meeting in Brussels, stating that US policy will change if necessary changes aren’t seen. However, National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby affirmed that US support for Israeli defense is unwavering. Meanwhile, over 33,000 Palestinians have died in the Gaza offensive according to Hamas-controlled local authorities. Humanitarian organizations now fear entering Gaza after the attack on World Central Kitchen. Netanyahu acknowledged the attack as a regrettable incident that can occur in war.
