More working retirees: 18% annual increase
In Denmark, the number of seniors working while receiving the state pension has significantly increased, rising by 18 percent from the previous year to 87,691 in December. When compared to two years ago, there is a 34 percent increase in employed pensioners. Helle Dalsgård from Sampension attributes this trend to recent changes in pension regulations, which eliminated pension reductions for earnings. This makes working during retirement financially more attractive, leading to a noteworthy rise in working pensioners. Dalsgård anticipates further growth as seniors remain willing to work and upcoming initiatives, including an additional employment tax deduction for seniors nearing retirement, will further incentivize prolonged workforce participation.
