Novo enters world’s top sales company list

Danish pharmaceutical company Novo Nordisk debuts on Fortune’s top 500 companies list by revenue at number 469, with an annual turnover of $33.7 billion. Maersk, also from Denmark, has fallen to 289th place, down 138 spots from the previous year. Novo Nordisk is 14th in market value worldwide. Walmart remains the list leader with $648 billion in revenue. Amazon is second, pushing Saudi Aramco to the third spot. Oil firms like Saudi Aramco, Exxon Mobil, and Shell have dropped in the ranking. Fortune editor-in-chief Alyson Shontell notes a trend of cooling energy prices and surging interest in artificial intelligence. Nvidia joins the list for the first time among 139 U.S. firms, outnumbering Chinese companies, a shift from China’s dominance since 2018.
