Police suspect hand grenade use in embassy district blasts
The police suspect that the explosions near the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen were caused by hand grenades. Lead police inspector Jens Jespersen announced at a briefing that three young Swedish men between ages 15 to 20 were detained and are facing possible charges for illegal weapons possession. The suspects were arrested on a train; a related bag found prompted parts of Copenhagen Central Station to be closed off. Jespersen noted that while the arrest might have looked violent, there was no danger to the public. The final suspect was apprehended near the site of the blast, which caused damage to a building, but no injuries were reported. It is still too early to determine whether the embassy was the intended target of the explosions. The police tracked down the offenders based on evidence at the scene and do not believe there are other suspects on the loose.
