Former Minister switches to Venstre party

Christian Friis Bach, a former minister, has announced his move from Radikale Venstre to the Venstre. He communicated his decision via a Facebook post following media speculation. Inspired by a belief in the power of centrist policies, Bach expressed respect for the current SVM government’s efforts and desires to support them, prompting his return to the party he originally started with, Venstre. His switch increases Venstre’s parliamentary group to 23 seats while the government coalition now has 87. This change restores the government’s domestic political majority, which could prove advantageous during upcoming parliamentary proceedings on the green tripart agreement. Bach has been a member of the Folketing for Radikale Venstre since 2008 and served as the Minister for Development Cooperation from 2011 to 2013.
