Investment firm paid 15 billion in taxes
Danish companies contributed a total of 101.7 billion Danish kroner in corporate taxes in 2023, marking the second-highest contribution ever, according to the tax ministry. Novo Holdings topped the list by paying 15.3 billion kroner, nearly double its 2022 payment. Danske Bank followed due to a new extra tax on financial firms, with a payment of 4.6 billion kroner. Third was the Lego family’s investment company, Kirkbi A/S, with 3.8 billion kroner. The impact of a new tax on financial companies was evident, as Forenet Kredit and major banks appeared in the top 10. However, energy companies paid lower taxes due to market normalization after high profits in 2022. The tax minister Rasmus Stoklund highlighted these contributions as signs of a strong Danish economy providing jobs and stability, as well as supporting common welfare in uncertain times. The 100 largest taxpayers accounted for over half of the total corporate tax paid in 2023.
