DI advises calm after Trump’s remarks
Lars Sandahl Sørensen, CEO of Confederation of Danish Industry, recommends a calm response until concrete plans from President-elect Donald Trump are revealed, following Trump’s statements about potentially imposing tariffs on Danish goods in the issue about Greenland. Trump considers using economic or military coercion to gain control over the Panama Canal and Greenland and has mentioned imposing a special tariff if Denmark refuses to sell Greenland to the U.S. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen insists on proper trade manners. Danish business fully agrees with the Prime Minister’s stance and wishes to continue cooperation with Greenland. Trump’s threats affected Danish stocks with shares of Vestas and Ørsted dropping significantly according to Jacob Pedersen of Sydbank.
