Eight convicted of terrorism at Kærshovedgård centre
Eight individuals convicted of terror-related crimes or incitement of terrorism are currently residing at the Kærshovedgård Deportation Centre according to a response to the Parliament from the Ministry of Immigration and Integration, reported by Berlingske. Moreover, one person convicted of terrorism is awaiting accommodation at the centre. Local community concerns arise due to the proximity to the centre and the criminal behaviour, including repeated failure to comply with reporting duties by the occupants. Betina Kastbjerg from the Denmark Democrats party, who lives 20 km away and serves as a Parliament member, reports that criminal activities impact nearby shops. Established in 2016, the centre has been the subject of considerable political debate. Following incidents of sexual harassment, single women were relocated to a different centre, and the Parliament’s Ombudsman recommended improving the living conditions and security at the centre.
