Two Danish volunteers missing in Ukraine

Two Danes, who volunteered as soldiers in the war in Ukraine, have been reported missing, confirmed by the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs to Ekstra Bladet. The relatives have been informed, and the ministry is providing consular assistance. According to the media, the Danes are believed to have perished in late November 2024, based on recordings of a British POW, James Scott Rhys Andersson, captured by Russian forces around November 25. The recordings circulating online mention the fate of the two Danes. They were reportedly part of a military unit called the International Legion for the Defence of Ukraine, which consists of foreign volunteers. Since Russia’s invasion in February 2022, many foreigners have joined the Ukrainian resistance, although there are no official numbers on how many are currently in Ukraine or have participated in combat.
