AI to aid doc-patient messaging
Doctors in Denmark’s Capital Region are testing artificial intelligence (AI) to reply to the growing number of messages received via the ‘Min Sundhedsplatform’ app—over 350,000 in 2023. The AI presently focuses on basic queries, with the goal to craft more complex responses within a year, per cardiac consultant Jakob Raunsø. Initiated at Bispebjerg and Herlev-Gentofte Hospitals, the trial, assures region’s tech chief Shadi Chreiteh, maintains patient data security. If successful, the program will be expanded in fall and {might be} implemented widely in Eastern Denmark. AI involvement aims for improved patient experiences, as evidenced by Mayo Clinic data showing potential 30-second savings per message for staff.
