Israel launches major attack on Iranian nuclear sites
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed that Israel has attacked targets in what he calls the core of Iran’s uranium enrichment and nuclear weapons program, aiming to damage Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and military targets. The operation, named “Rising Lion,” includes strikes on Iran’s leading nuclear scientists, focusing on Natanz atomic facilities. According to Israel Iran has enough material to produce 15 atomic bombs within days. There are no signs of radioactive pollution at Natanz. Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, declared a crisis alert, anticipating missile and drone attacks from Iran as retaliation. US President Donald Trump convened ministers following the attack, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio clarifying that the US is not involved. The US military is considering scenarios including civilian evacuation. The US and Iran have engaged in five negotiation rounds for a new nuclear deal since April.
