Greenland presenting first foreign affairs strategy

Greenland is presenting its initial foreign policy strategy to have a greater say in foreign and security matters until 2033. The strategy, ‘Nothing about us, without us,’ calls for Greenland’s active involvement in regional sovereignty, particularly via the Sirius Patrol. Collaborative efforts with the Arctic Command aim to enhance local emergency response capabilities. Better surveillance in the North Atlantic, including Giuk Gap, is planned, utilizing long-range drones. Greenland also aspires to play a leading role in the Arctic Council and will prepare for its chairmanship in 2025-2027. Moreover, talks on introducing conscription in Greenland are proposed. An Arctic basic training program is to start this summer, and the intention to establish a native coast guard is outlined.
