Employment rises in Denmark in february

In Denmark, employment increased by 5,300 in February to a total of 3,014,700 workers. Over the past year, the employment rate has grown by 34,200, with increases observed in 11 of the last 12 months. Chief Economist Tore Stramer from Danish Chamber of Commerce highlighted the unexpected, impressive job growth amid a stagnant economy over the previous two years. The job market has defied forecasts of a 2024 soft landing with a predicted employment drop this year. Søren Kristensen, Sydbank’s Chief Economist, now doubts an imminent ‘landing,’ acknowledging strong economic growth trends but also noting a reduction in job demand. Most new jobs are in the private sector, particularly in industry and knowledge services, whereas the information and communication sector saw declines.
