Norway to recognize Palestine as independent state

Norway has announced that it will officially recognize Palestine as an independent state on May 28, with Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre asserting that Palestine will be regarded as a sovereign entity with all associated rights and responsibilities. Norway endorses a two-state solution for peace in the Middle East, envisioning borders based on pre-June 4, 1967 lines and a shared capital in Jerusalem, as stated by the Norwegian Foreign Ministry and reported by NTB. Following this announcement, Israel’s Foreign Minister Israel Katz has recalled Israeli ambassadors from Dublin and Oslo, signaling a sharp message in response to the recognition. Nine EU countries currently recognize Palestinian statehood, and while Denmark is not one of them, it voted for a UN resolution advocating for Palestinian membership in the UN, favoring to give Palestinians a voice in international collaboration.
