Region halts medical record audit amid errors

Region Midtjylland has prematurely concluded the review of over 1,600 psychiatric patient records in Randers, although errors were found in half of the 555 records assessed, which is about a third of the total. The examination was initiated after a senior psychiatrist was sent home following a whistleblower tip and later dismissed, with other senior staff resigning thereafter. The region is now sending advisory letters to patients and relatives of the deceased, informing them on how to file complaints and seek compensation. Meanwhile, the organisation Bedre Psykiatri criticized the halt as a betrayal of trust. A prior case resolved by The Patient Compensation Association concluded that a young patient’s suicide might have been prevented with adequate treatment.
