Denmark’s electrification pace doubles since 2018

In 2023, Denmark’s electric grid companies connected double the consumer capacity compared to 2018, according to a report by Green Power Denmark. A total of 1450 megawatts were connected, up from the 750 megawatts in 2018. This includes both new and existing electrical users who have increased their capacity. Mette Rose Skaksen, Deputy CEO of Green Power Denmark, indicates a warning that electricity demand will rise. She notes significant progression over the past two to three years and anticipates an even stronger pace in the coming years. Denmark is facing extensive electrification; more buses, trucks, and cars will be electric, utilizing green energy instead of fossil fuels. The report was compiled using data from eight electric grid companies responsible for 80% of Denmark’s electricity consumption.
