Municipalities with seniors above 60 growing
In the next 20 years, 31 percent of Denmark’s population will be over 60, with an uneven distribution across municipalities. As highlighted in ‘Danmark går i gråt,’ written by Professor Torben M. Andersen and Jan Rose Skaksen, 14 municipalities will see nearly half their residents above this age. Young Danes are moving to major cities for education and jobs, leaving smaller communities grayer. The population over 80 will also increase, placing greater demand on healthcare and eldercare services. This shift may significantly impact local economies, labor markets, housing, culture, and political priorities.
