Court Affirms Attempted Rape and Murder

On Wednesday, the Western High Court confirmed that 38-year-old Thomas Thomsen attempted to rape Mia Skadhauge Stevn before killing and dismembering her. This ruling affirms last year’s judgment by the Court in Aalborg. The court found Thomsen’s explanation, alleging Stevn died from a fall during a forest hike, to be ‘unbelievable’ and inconsistent with the forensic examination of her body parts. The forensic examiner concluded that Stevn likely died from strangulation. Throughout both trials, Thomsen claimed that after a night out in Aalborg, he picked up the 22-year-old nursing student, who was flirtatious, and they agreed to have sex in Hammer Bakker woods. He described an accidental fall that resulted in her unnatural head jerk and subsequent death in the car.
