Ukraine confirms use of Western arms in Kursk

Ukraine has for the first time officially confirmed using Western-supplied weapons, specifically U.S.-produced HIMARS rocket systems, targeting engineering equipment and bridges in the Kursk region of Russia. This operation, which included the destruction of at least three bridges over the Sejm River, is part of an offensive Ukraine began on August 6. The Ukrainian special forces highlighted their precision in destroying Russian pontoon bridges via a Telegram post. While the U.S. has not directly commented on this particular use of its weapons in Kursk, they maintain that Ukraine is defending itself against Russian aggression and has allowed Ukraine to target border areas. The Russian government views the use of American weapons on its territory as an escalation. Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen confirmed on Monday that Danish weapons may be used on Russian territory as part of Ukraine’s defensive efforts to disrupt Russian supply lines to military units in occupied Ukrainian areas.
