Jarlov declines conservative leadership bid
Danish MP Rasmus Jarlov, currently on sick leave, has ruled himself out as a candidate for the leadership of the Conservative Party. He stated on social media that he doesn’t want to miss his sons’ childhood and lacks the necessary skills and alignment with the party’s parliamentary group for the role. The unexpected death of Søren Pape Poulsen on March 2nd left the party without a political leader. Mette Abildgaard also declined the position. Speculations suggest Mona Juul, the newly elected conservative group leader, to be a potential successor, though she has not publicly commented. The conservative party’s vice-chairman, Michael Ziegler, is the acting chair but not the political leader. Pape’s funeral took place following his death due to a brain hemorrhage.
