S-spokesperson: Pension deal timing not crucial

Social Democrats are not in a rush for a new pension deal before the next election, according to political spokesperson Christian Rabjerg Madsen. Despite liberal party Venstre leader Troels Lund Poulsen joining the Moderates in wanting clarity on the contentious pension debate before the next election, the timing is not critical for the Social Democrats. The priority is to reach an agreement that benefits Danish workers, given the differing views in Parliament, which Madsen anticipates will lead to difficult negotiations. Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen previously indicated a desire to renegotiate the welfare agreement that currently regulates increasing retirement age, but the specific changes and negotiation timeframe remain undefined. Madsen reiterated the Social Democrats have yet to commit to a final model for the future pension age.
