Hjort Endorses Vanopslagh for PM Candidate

Claus Hjort Frederiksen from Venstre considers Liberal Alliance’s leader, Alex Vanopslagh, the obvious choice for prime minister candidate from the right wing bloc. In a Berlingske interview, he supports the statement of Venstre’s leader, Troels Lund Poulsen, who did not see himself as the prime ministerial candidate, leaving room for alternatives. Hjort Frederiksen describes Vanopslagh as likable, competent, and capable of assuming the role. He addresses Venstre’s severe crisis, its decline in polls below ten percent after the departure of prominent figures to form new parties, and former leader Jakob Ellemann-Jensen leaving politics. He criticizes the party’s handling of agricultural taxation and rejects the notion of forcing Venstre to choose between being a city or a countryside party.
