Unemployment rises slightly in July

In July, unemployment in Denmark slightly increased by 400, totaling 87,100 full-time unemployed, keeping the rate at 2.9%. Employment Minister Ane Halsboe-Jørgensen is not alarmed, noting the low rates considering the current circumstances. Kristian Skriver from the Danish Chamber og Commerce also isn’t worried, seeing employment rising alongside stable unemployment since the new year. However, he cautions about a possible deceleration in the labor market and a minor uptick in unemployment rates. Brian Friis Helmer of Arbejdernes Landsbank points out the risk of the labor market slowing down through the rest of 2024, with a decrease in job vacancies and a slower employment growth rate, despite 17,000 additional people employed since last year. In spring 2022, unemployment hit a recent low of 2.4%.
