Electric cars surpass 50% of new registrations in july
In July, more than half of the new cars registered were electric, with 52% of the 11,517 total new registrations being electric vehicles, according to Mobility Denmark. This number is a 69% increase in electric vehicle registrations compared to July 2023. Mads Rørvig, CEO of Mobility Denmark, expects strong continued demand and a solid year for car sales in 2024. Leading the popularity chart were the Volkswagen ID.4 and Tesla Model Y. Thomas Møller Sørensen from Danish Industry warns that the shift to electric could be fragile unless governmental support continues, advocating for a fixed low registration tax on electric vehicles until 2030. The financial act for 2024 has agreed to keep the tax deduction for electric vehicles for 2024 and 2025 unchanged, contrary to previous plans to increase it.
