Mayor offers royal couple sled dog ride in Greenland

On the fourth day of their visit to Greenland, King Frederik and Queen Mary were welcomed in Sisimiut, the country’s second-largest city, by Mayor Malik Berthelsen and other officials. The mayor invited the royal couple for a dog sled trip, a suggestion met without confirmation of their acceptance. The couple donned Greenlandic national costumes while being greeted by a large crowd at the city’s new wharf. Queen Mary was congratulated by the mayor on receiving the Gold Nersornaat medal from the Self-Government for her long-term commitment to social conditions for children and youth in Greenland. During their stay, the royal couple also visited the Sisimiut Museum, the national disability center Pissassarfik, and a dog food production company. Moreover, King Frederik and Prince Vincent enjoyed a test drive on an ATV. Their Greenland visit will continue with a trip to the capital, Nuuk, and conclude on Saturday.
