Main character in ‘Black Swan’ cancels trial

Amira Smajic, the main character in the documentary ‘The Black Swan,’ reported sick and will not attend her scheduled trial in Odense on Wednesday and Thursday, reports B.T. Smajic, a 36-year-old business lawyer, has been sentenced to three months in prison for document forgery. Smajic, who has previously failed to appear at court, was convicted without a timely medical note. Charged with forgery, Smajic created a fake employment contract for a salon that never employed the individual with alleged earnings of 124,850 kroner. She has pleaded not guilty, appealing the verdict. In the current Odense case, she is accused of ten criminal offenses from 2016 to 2021, including defrauding an association of 1.2 million kroner. Her defense lawyer confirms the postponement of the case, with no further comment. It is unclear when the trial will proceed. The documentary ‘The Black Swan,’ which aired last May, exposes links between the criminal underworld and professionals through covert recordings.
