Prosecutor won’t summon PM as witness

Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen is exempt from testifying in court regarding an incident at Kultorvet in Copenhagen. The Public Prosecutor’s Office, represented by special prosecutor Anders Larsson from the Copenhagen Police, has determined that her testimony is not necessary for the upcoming criminal case based on all available evidence. Larsson indicates that cases can be sufficiently illuminated by other testimonies and information than that of the purported victim. This decision mirrors a past case where former Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen was not called as a witness after being attacked in 2002. In the current case, a 39-year-old Polish citizen, allegedly inebriated or under the influence, is accused of approaching Frederiksen unexpectedly on the street as she was en route to meet a friend, despite her security detail.
