Egede summons leaders after Trump remark

Greenland’s acting leader, Múte B. Egede, has asked for a meeting with party leaders in response to U.S. President Donald Trump’s comments about the possibility of annexing Greenland. Egede emphasizes the need to strengthen their rejection of Trump’s disrespect. Greenland’s leader had previously stated on Facebook that Greenland is for Greenlanders, not Americans or Danes. Trump did not explicitly use the word ‘annexation’ but suggested that it could happen. The Democratic Party, led by Jens-Frederik Nielsen, won the recent elections and, along with the current Greenlandic government and Denmark, has rejected Trump’s purchase proposal, affirming that Greenland is not for sale. Nielsen confirms that a meeting with party leaders is being convened to address Trump’s ‘inappropriate’ remarks.
