Green tripartite agreement unveiled Monday

After weeks of prolonged negotiations, a broad majority in the Danish Parliament has seemingly reached a consensus on a political agreement concerning the Green Tripartite. The Ministry for the Green Tripartite has scheduled a press conference at 10:15 AM on Monday to present an agreement. This announcement came after the Red-Green Alliance withdrew from negotiations, stating the deal was not responsible enough regarding climate and aquatic environments. It’s unclear whether all negotiating parties are included in the reached agreement. The effort aims to implement a climate-friendly transition in agriculture by introducing nitrogen emission levies, expected to help fulfill Denmark’s 2030 climate goals and reduce CO2 emissions by at least 1.8 million tons by that year. The Green Tripartite also plans for 250,000 hectares of new forest and the creation of five more national nature parks, while approximately 140,000 hectares of peat farmland will be retired from cultivation.
