21-year-old remanded for four weeks in Canadian ketamin case

Checks on parcel post in Canada led to the arrest of a 21-year-old man in Copenhagen on Thursday. He is charged with being the sender of a shipment carrying six kilograms of ketamine to Canada. The package was shipped in August via a parcel shop in Field’s. In court Thursday the man pleaded not guilty, but the rest of the remand hearing was held behind closed doors. The judge concluded that there is a reasonable suspicion in the case and the man was remanded in custody for four weeks. Ketamine is an anaesthetic that is used particularly for larger animals such as horses. However, among some addicts there is also interest in the drug because it can have hallucinogenic effects. /ritzau/
